Nurse CV example to fill in
A nurse’s CV has to show straight away where you have worked, on which wards and with which clinical skills. This example does it with a modern template, suited to private hospitals and care homes. If an employer asks for the European format, switch template in the editor with one click: your details stay the same.
It’s a made-up profile: change the details and download it as PDF and Word. Free, no sign-up.
In this example
- Wards and workload: beds, patients per shift.
- Clinical skills and courses such as life support and postgraduate training.
- Your professional registration, always stated.
What to write in a nurse CV
Wards and numbers
For each job give the hospital, the ward and the dates, then two or three concrete lines: beds, patients per shift, extra responsibilities such as mentoring students or checking the resuscitation trolley.
DutyProviding nursing care to patients on the ward.
SpecificTriage and care in an emergency department with over 80,000 attendances a year, an average of 60 patients per shift.
Clinical skills
- Triage, monitoring and emergency care.
- Medication administration and venous access.
- Advanced wound care and pressure ulcer prevention.
- Health education for patients and families.
- Electronic patient records.
Training and courses
Your nursing degree with the university and year, then postgraduate courses and certificates such as BLS/AED or ALS, with the year of the last renewal. Of your continuing education, list what matters most for the job, not everything.
Registration
Nursing requires registration with your country’s professional body: give the register and the year, in a separate section or in the profile.
European format
Some public employers and international organisations ask for the European CV format. With CV Espresso you choose the European template in the “Design” tab; the European CV guide explains what goes where.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need the European format?
Only if the employer asks for it. If so, choose the European template in the “Design” tab: the details you entered stay the same.
Should I list every course I have taken?
No: list the most recent ones and those most useful for the job. If an application form asks for all your training, it will say how.
